One summer while walking along Point Cartwright beach, I found two tiny shells that I thought would make a beautiful mould.
I carefully carried them home and placed them in a small dish until I was ready. When I returned, one tiny shell had climbed on top of the other.
They weren't empty at all.
They were home to two very determined little creatures.
So I got back in the car and drove them all the way back to the same stretch of beach.
I could have placed them in the canal behind our home, but it wasn't where they belonged.
I still smile when I think about those two tiny travellers, and I like to imagine they quickly disappeared beneath the sand before another curious beachcomber came along.
Moments like these quietly remind me that nature isn't ours to keep.
It simply lends us its beauty for a while.
That same respect guides every piece I create today. When I take an impression from coral, a shell or another natural treasure, it is carefully returned to where it belongs. The jewellery carries the memory of that moment, while nature continues its own story.
